Rationale and Institutional Significance
The creation of a school-based journal aligns with Ateneo de Davao University’s mission to promote knowledge generation, research excellence, and socially responsive scholarship. For the School of Engineering and Architecture (SEA), EMERJ serves as a strategic academic platform for disseminating high-quality work in engineering and science while building a stronger publication culture among faculty, students, collaborators, and external contributors.
EMERJ addresses a practical gap: researchers across engineering and the sciences — basic and applied alike — often require publication venues that are technically credible, ethically governed, regionally meaningful, and internationally oriented. EMERJ welcomes strong scientific and engineering work, from fundamental, curiosity-driven studies to application-oriented innovation, while also recognizing problems and innovations relevant to Mindanao, the Philippines, the Asia–Pacific, and the Global South.
Beyond publication itself, EMERJ contributes to faculty development, institutional research visibility, and broader academic partnerships — positioning SEA and AdDU as active conveners of scholarly dialogue in engineering, technology, sustainability, digital transformation, and context-responsive innovation.
